Brain Bombed? What distracts you from your spiritual practice?

Your brain is "bombed" by enough information every day to overload a powerful computer.
Right here in my city, researchers at the University of California at San Diego calculated that every single day people are inundated with the equivalent of 34 Gb (gigabytes) of information every day.
That's a sufficient quantity of data overload to crash your laptop in a week.
I wasn't surprised.
It's clear that TV, Facebook, social media, phones, email, web surfing, screen games, YouTube, and more are shortening people's attention span and gobbling their lives up.
Of all that, a little TV is all I want. I look at my phone when it rings, or use it to navigate.
Why? Life is precious.
TIME is precious. I'm not a sheep. I don't want anyone directing my focus.
I help people choose a slower, saner, higher-quality focus to replace the garbage input the media happily feeds us.
But like junk food, media garbage is as addictive as a drug
--many people can't quit even though it's not making them happy.
I was delighted when my love Scott one day just quit Facebook and TV news, cold turkey. He said it had become a black hole of time and energy. We talk more. Do more fun things. What he called his "new addiction," spring planting, turned our place into a garden paradise of multi-color color blooms and palm trees.
Now he practices his guitar every single day, and has seen progress there for the first time in his life.
I hope you're not average, because the average person's focus is dominated by shiny media baubles.
Who directs your focus? Your Large Self?
Or the daily brain-bombings?
Okay: alternatives, if you're ready for some.
I've created 12 new short meditations in the Mastery Course with more coming weekly. They're 8 to 12 minutes long. (There are others in previous Portals, but Mastery's my current laser focus.)
I feel it's better if people do a ten-minute meditation than no quality inner focus that day at all. And once you let in a good thing, you tend to want more. I listen to them as I go to sleep, and I sleep deliciously well.
In the massive world I've created at DivineOpenings.com, every single thing there guides your focus within, on what is most important, most real, and most enduring.
Often it helps you not to think for long periods of time, and the state of No-Mind is one of the most powerful states of all.
