New Old Tractor For Lola, and Advice From An Old Farmer!
Leave it to a country girl to get so excited about a tractor. I jumped on the old John Deere garden tractor today, in the midday blazing sun, ready to tackle the weeds that took over while I was in California for 12 days leading the Retreat. As I bumped along toward the weeds, plastic started flying everywhere. The grille with the headlights on it had come loose, and I had run over it and shredded it into a thousand pieces! Imagine my chagrin.... LOL..... I'm actually laughing an hour later. It just seems hilarous now.
I said, "That's it. I've needed a bigger tractor anyway, so I'm not going to put any more money into this one." I got on the internet and looked at a lot of ads for old tractors. These old tractors are incredibly simple and virtually immortal. They run forever with some maintenance. Within 30 minutes, I had arranged to have an old red rebuilt Farmall tractor and shredder (the mower part that pulls behind it) delivered from a rural area 90 miles from here by the nicest guy, who showed me how to work everything.
I've been talking about this and dreaming about it for years, and have written in the blog about that, but I wanted to get the last shred of value out of the old John Deere, which was never really big enough for mowing these 10 acres. But what did I know 8 years ago when I bought it, being new at having ten acres to take care of? You learn one step at a time, and there's joy in the journey.
So there's supposed to be more spiritual value in this story, right? Not really -- I'm just so excited I had to share! Ha ha... Well then... OK, I'll think of something:
- Joy and something to rave about is where you find it. For some, it's a red 1930's Farmall tractor.
- You don't really want to get or do everything all at once. Spread it out over time and savor each new thing, place, person, or experience.
- It's the simplest things in life that often bring the most joy. I couldn't be any more excited about a red Ferrari.
- Every time you "hit" something you don't want, it can be a catalyst for something you do want. It makes it clearer or can push you to action.
- You've heard me say that mowing is a meditation for me. I LOVE it. What is your unusual meditation?
- What do you love to do that's very simple?

Again, we thank whoever wrote it and circulated it! I know our international readers love the Texas and southern "colorful stuff". This guy could have been my great grandfather, who had a small farm, some cows, pigs, and chickens.
AN OLD FARMER'S ADVICEWISE OLD MAN, on THAT THERE TRACTOR......
* The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'.
* Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.
* Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled.
* Meanness don't jes' happen overnight.
* It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.
* You cannot un-say a cruel word.
* The best sermons are lived, not preached.
* Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.
* Don't judge folks by their relatives.
* Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
* Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none.
* If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.
* Always drink upstream from the herd.
* When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
* If you follow the herd, expect to step in allot of sh**!
* Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.
* Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in.
* If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some Influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around.
*Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.

FYI: The Old Farmer was not sent to you in original format. Some times I get emails fowarded that are a grad bag of vibrations. I always see the potential therefore tend to omit and/or edit parts inorder to raise the vibration so I can feel good about fowarding it. So if you've ever read the original you will know this was tweaked by me cause the Old Farmer was in need of a tune up !

As a part of that I too LOVE my tractor time, even winter chores are more exciting now that we have a NEW SNOWBLOWER for the tractor! Wow!!!! Last winter, it made things even more fun and that much easier than waiting for the Keith and the plow truck to get home!!!
Cleaning horse poop
But I digress. My unusual meditation is cleaning the horse poop early in the morning. It's when I get my best ideas and feel so very connected to everything.
What's really funny is that I just put a tractor on my list of desires.....

Pool Reflections
I am a water girl and vacumming my pool has become a beautiful meditation. V e r y s l o w back and forth sweeping motions open up space for quiet reflection. Even floating and gazing into water is amazing!!! Aahhhhh l~~~~_/ ~~~~~l
